Not!! If this is a part of the problem, some really nice things happen when you start moving in a different direction. I started cutting back on sugars and my appreciation of fruit soared.
But with taste buds tuned to sugar that kind of appreciation just isn't there. Trying to think of something good to eat, the first thing I would come up with was a quart of ice cream with chocolate chips on top and a glass of maple syrup on the side. :)
So it's worth putting together a list of healthy recipes and snacks you really do like. Try having one of them first and you might not even feel like eating the ice cream after.
Here are a few unusual snacks I enjoy.
Spread half an avocado between 2 pieces of toast. It's greasy enough that you don't even need margarine or butter and the fats are supposed to be good for you. I've read that it's high in potassium and that is supposed to be good for blood pressure.
Four slices of toast use up the whole avocado and makes a really nice breakfast. All without fried eggs, pork and that sort of stuff.
I had an apartment mate who worked in a health food store. We used to make popcorn and use olive oil instead of butter. Add some nutritional yeast for flavoring, and salt. It was really good. Maybe not quite as good as just plain old butter, but healthier.
There is something so pleasant about fresh popcorn with butter that it practically makes people happy when they smell it. I've been told a few times that it isn't good for you. I'd ask "And cornflakes are?" Never did get a reply to that one.
At least compared to the sugary stuff it is healthy. It is an unprocessed whole grain. Would you believe it makes a nice breakfast too?
There is a practical use to having a few ideas like this. We are putting together a list at the
